WILMINGTON — Allan James Fenton, 81, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington, NC.

Allan was born on August 14, 1943, in Paisley, Scotland to the late Mary Fenton (McCauley) and the late James Fenton. He was educated at Central High School before graduating with a bachelor’s in arts degree from the University of Toledo with a concentration in language studies.

Allan served in the US Army National Guard from 1967-1973 as a Military Police Officer and was honorably discharged with the rank of E5. He worked as a Sales Manager for Toledo Scale and later, Meilink Safe Company in Whitehouse, Ohio.

Allan was an avid reader who loved history, seafood, cars, and music. He was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations during the last 25 years of his life.

Allan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonita (Mohr) Fenton; sons, James Fenton, Kyle Fenton and wife, Donielle; daughter, Heather Patterson and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Cameron Fenton, Skye Fenton, Nova Fenton, Jack Patterson, Alexandria Patterson, and Elle Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Allan’s honor may be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington, NC. Private burial to follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
