Richard Clarence Long (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Richard Clarence Long, 68 of Winnabow, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025.

Born November 17, 1956 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Ben H. Long and R. Jeanne Cook.

Rick is survived by wife Donna of the home. He is also survived by his three daughters, Tricia D. Coleman (husband Mike), Traci L. Wood and Terri J. Grainger; grandchildren, Zachary J. Coleman, W. Alec Wood, Emma Claire Coleman and Evalynn Rose Grainger; sisters, Sharon Elwood and Melanie Long and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rick served four years in the U. S. Air Force. He retired from The Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point after twenty seven years of service where he worked his way up through the ranks to Assistant Fire Chief.

Rick was passionate about time spent in nature, whether working in the garden or enjoying the quiet in the woods. A skilled craftsman, he also spent many hours in the workshop, creating and building with a steady hand and thoughtful heart. He was a dedicated member of the Adams Battery Unit, spending countless weekends reenacting historical battles, sharing stories, forging lifelong friendships and camaraderie with others who shared his love of history.

Rick loved his family and friends dearly and will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 4-6 PM at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington.

Graveside services will be on Thursday, February 6, 2025, 11:00 AM at the Town Creek Baptist Cemetery, Leland. Followed by the Funeral at 1:00 PM at the Temple Baptist Church, 1801 Market Street, Wilmington.
