WILMINGTON — Carol Ann Heinl, born December 13, 1934, in Nyack, NY, has decided to take her final bow on January 31, 2025, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 90. Known for her sharp wit and infectious laughter, Carol lived a life full of joy, warmth, and a little bit of sass.
A high school graduate who knew how to balance a checkbook and a punchline, Carol brought smiles to many as a bank teller. But it was her volunteer work with the Paramus Fire Co. 3 Ladies Aux that truly showcased her fiery spirit.
Carol had a knack for turning the mundane into the extraordinary. Whether she was whipping up a storm in the kitchen, gliding across a roller rink, or fiercely competing in a round of Uno, she did it all with flair. Her bowling skills were legendary—or at least that’s what she claimed, often reminding her grandchildren that her strikes were as rare as her mistakes.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Theil, and her beloved husband, Arthur Warren Heinl, Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by her daughter Dana Heinl and Dana’s fiancé Kenny Bambury. Carol also leaves her three granddaughters, Jessica Meyer, Stephanie Meyer and Amanda Bambury who will carry on her tradition of card game dominance and culinary experimentation.
Currently residing in Rocky Point, NC, Carol’s absence will be felt by all who knew her. In true Carol fashion, she leaves us with no immediate plans for services—perhaps a wink to her spontaneous nature and her belief that life should be celebrated in unexpected ways.
There are no services planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Carol’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us remember her as she was: a vibrant, witty soul who filled our lives with joy, and who undoubtedly is now challenging the angels to a heavenly game of Uno. Rest in peace, Carol—you’ve won this round.
Please leave memories and condolences for Carol’s family here.
