WILMINGTON — Kathryn Sue Kirkpatrick, beloved mother, companion, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 60. Born on December 5, 1964, in Jacksonville, Florida, Kathryn filled her 60 years with warmth, determination, and a deep love for her family.
Kathryn had an infectious spirit, especially during the holidays, as she delighted in cooking grand feasts that brought her family together. She cherished the laughter and joy that resonated in her home during these times. Her unwavering support and strength were pillars for her loved ones, always encouraging them to strive for their best.
Nothing made Kathryn’s heart fuller than her grandchildren, for whom she held abundant love and pride. She adored watching them grow and created countless memories that will forever be engrained in their hearts. Wrestling nights were also a cherished tradition, as she relished in the excitement of the sport—it was a delight she shared with those around her.
Kathryn’s life was intertwined with grief, having been preceded in death by her beloved mother, Rose Walker, and her siblings Sharon, Sandra, Michael, and David. She carried their memories with her through strength and resilience.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her longtime companion Andres Jesus; her children: Erica Kirkpatrick of Sneads Ferry, NC, Amanda Kirkpatrick of Jacksonville, NC, Trish Barnts and husband Joshua of Wilmington, NC, Kevin Kirkpatrick of Fulton, NY, Kelly Kirkpatrick of Delco, NC, Sean Kirkpatrick of Sneads Ferry, NC, Sarah Kirkpatrick of Wilmington, NC, and Bryan “Bubba” Kirkpatrick and wife, Sarah Mott also of Wilmington, NC. Her surviving family also includes her brother Charles Crenshaw of Mississippi, her sister Michelle West of Key West, FL, and 26 treasured grandchildren. She shared her home and heart with her beloved pet, Freddie Mercury.
A celebration of Kathryn’s life is set to take place at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation, 1535 South 41st Street Wilmington, NC. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and honor of Kathryn’s remarkable journey.
