WILMINGTON — William Curtis Beatty, age 64, of Martinez, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

William Curtis Beatty was the third of four children born to Willie Beatty Jr and Lottie Beatty.

William Curtis went to Cape Fear Technical College and received a Welding diploma in August 1979. He enlisted in the US Army in September 1979 where he held many leadership positions and received outstanding accolades.

Within the first 10 years of service he received the Army Commendation medal three times; Army Achievement medal three times, Army Good Conduct medal six times, National Defense Service medal, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar/Driver, Mechanic badge with W-Bar. The Remaining 10 years he became a Recruiter and held the positions of Recruiter, Station Commander, Recruiter Trainer and Guidance Counselor and received US Army Gold Recruiter badge with 3 Sapphire Achievement stars, Chief of Staff of the Army’s Recruiting Excellence award (the Army Recruiter Ring) which is the highest achievement award for recruiting excellence. He retired from the US Army in 1999.

After retiring from the Army, William Curtis went on to work as a glassmaker at Corning retiring again after 16 years of service.

During his time in the Recruiting and Retention school at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, he met the love of his life Paula. They were joined in holy matrimony on September 1989 and became a family of five.
