WILMINGTON — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Thomas Ohnmacht Sr., who left us on January 23, 2025, at the age of 75, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on April 16, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, Charlie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his faith.
Charlie was the retired owner and operator of 4 Seasons Heating and Air in Wilmington. Known for his incredible skill and ingenuity, he could build and fix anything and loved doing home renovations. An extremely hard worker his entire life, he took pride in his work and found great joy in solving problems and creating comfortable spaces for others.
Beyond his professional achievements, he was an extremely generous man and would be willing to give you the shirt off his back, honest to a fault and didn’t pass up the opportunity to tell a good joke. Charlie was a man of simple pleasures. He cherished time spent with his family and loved anything techy as well as watching his giant tv & reading almost any genre of book, especially espionage. Charlie carried his spirituality quietly but steadfastly throughout his life.
Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles Ohnmacht and Florence Avery Ohnmacht. He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to hold him dear in their memories: his devoted wife of 57 years, Carolyn Grace Ohnmacht; his children, Charles “Chuck” Ohnmacht, Jr., Andrea Russo, Christine Sullivan, and Valarie Fowler and son in law Jamie Fowler, his cherished grandchildren, Charles Thomas Ohnmacht III, Jaxon Fowler, and Michael Sullivan; and his sister, Claudia Archer.
In accordance with his wishes, no memorial services are planned. Instead, Charlie’s family invites those who knew him to remember and celebrate his life in their own personal ways, honoring the legacy of love, strength, and resilience he leaves behind. A small gathering may be held in the coming weeks at his residence for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in his honor to Dauntless Dog Animal Rescue or Arise Animal rescue, we all know he loved animals especially dogs.
Charlie Ohnmacht will be profoundly missed by his family and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
