WILMINGTON — With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Dwain Skidmore, Jr., better known as “Boo” or “Pudge” to his friends, who left this world on January 18, 2025, at the young age of 42. Residing in Richlands, he was born on June 21, 1982, in Elkins, WV, to his loving parents, Robert Dwain Skidmore, Sr. and Denise Morrison Skidmore.
Boo was a man who never took life too seriously, always finding ways to bring a smile to those around him. His infectious laughter and playful spirit were a testament to his belief in living life to the fullest. As a dedicated Clerk for Handy Mart for over 15 years, Boo was known not just for his hard work and commitment but also for his ability to brighten the day of every customer and colleague with a well-timed joke or a friendly prank.
His passions extended beyond his work; Boo was an avid fan of NASCAR, cheering enthusiastically for Jeff Gordon. He found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, whether he was fishing or enjoying camping trips to the backyard with his beloved daughter during her childhood.
Boo’s love for nature was matched only by his love for his family, whom he cherished deeply. Above all, he was a man of great character, an excellent father and provider, always ensuring his family was well taken care of and surrounded by love and laughter.
In addition to his parents, he leaves behind his beloved daughter, Sierra Oliver (Sean) of Midway Park, and the one who made him a proud grandpa, Everleigh Johnson. His sister, Charity Box (fiancé, Keith Jackson), and his niece, Janaye Skidmore, will forever remember his playful spirit. Long-time friends Anthony Smith and Sophia Hubbell will miss the camaraderie and countless adventures shared with their dear Pudge.
A celebration of Boo’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the memory of a remarkable man who touched so many lives. Until then, we hold him close in our hearts, grateful for the time we shared with such a wonderful soul.
