OAK ISLAND –It is with great sadness that we announce the homegoing of Janice Marie Satterfield Finchum, 84 of Oak Island. She passed from this life to her eternal home on January 17, 2025.
Mrs. Finchum was born July 28, 1940 in Gaston County, North Carolina. After moving to Oak Island in 1991, she continued her career as a Realtor in the area for over 30 years and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Brunswick Chapter #341 in Shallotte. So many people were special to her, not the least of which were her many friends at First Baptist Church of Oak Island and The Oak Island Community Senior Center, and her friends from Stanley and Alexis, North Carolina. Her family will be forever grateful to God for these friends.
Survivors include her two children, Pamela Jarmon and husband Gary, and Charles Finchum; six grandchildren, Tony Jarmon and wife Lillie, Kelly Walker and husband Dave, Jesse Jarmon and wife Rose, Shelby Farmer and husband JoJo, Lawson Finchum, and Laura Finchum; 11 great-grandchildren with two additional ones to be born in March.
Mrs. Finchum was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit C. Finchum; her parents, Charles and Willie Mae Satterfield; and a brother, Charles Satterfield, III.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Oak Island. The family will have visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. She will be interred in the Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Holly, North Carolina at a later date.
