WILMINGTON — It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother and grandmother, Peggy McDaniel Allen, on January 12, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare, in Wilmington, NC.
Peggy was born on November 10, 1940 in Greensboro, NC, to the late Lafayette A. and Swanna Jones McDaniel. She was preceded in death by her husband John Paul Allen, Jr, her brother Ray McDaniel, wife Sylvia McDaniel, and sister Sandra McDaniel Tilghman, husband Mike Tilghman.
She was a member of First Baptist of Leland. She was a graduate of High Point College, and retired from teaching at Leland Middle School.
Survivors include: Sons John Paul Allen III, and Keith M. Allen with wife Debbie Lindsey Allen, all of Leland; daughter Katherine Allen Shearon with husband David Shearon of Land O Lakes, FL; brother Jay McDaniel with wife Brenda McDaniel of Bennett, NC; three sisters-in-law, Judy King, Linda Overton, Georgia Maness with husband Johnnie, all of Ether, NC; Grandchildren include Sarah H Riewer and husband Garrett Riewer, Kameryn H Latusa and husband Kyle Latusa, Cameron J Hamby and husband Alexander Hamby, Mackenzie A. Allen and Mallory J. Allen; Nieces and Nephews include Donna Pasour, Deanne Singleton, Abagayle Singleton, Xander Singleton, Kelly Coalson, husband Kenneth Coalson, Chastin Coalson, Rayeann M. Anderson, Sheree M. Walters, Dorain M. Jacobs, Leisha N. Moran, husband Jonathan Moran, Alaijia Stinson, husband, Gary Lee Thomas, Jay McDaniel II, Stephanie Balmer, Christopher McDaniel, David & Tonya Campbell.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, at the First Baptist Church of Leland, 517 Village Road, Leland, NC, with Reverend Steve Ellis presiding. Family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until time of services.
