WILMINGTON — Robert (Bob) Samuel Fetterman, 90, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

Born December 11, 1934, in Cleveland, OH, Bob attended Shaker Heights High School, then went on to Lehigh University, in Bethlehem, PA, for his undergraduate studies, and later on received his Masters Degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken, NJ.

He settled in New York City, where he met his beloved wife Jackie. They raised their family in Maplewood, NJ, before moving to Sharon, MA, Montville, NJ, and then retired to Wilmington in 2000.

Bob proudly served his career of over 30 years with the United States Postal Service, serving as Director of Finance, and later as Division Controller in two divisions.

Bob remained a loyal and lifelong Cleveland Browns and Guardians fan, along with an avid Formula One enthusiast. He enjoyed a wide variety of activities and was dedicated to his many clubs and service organizations, including volunteering with the Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 20 years, and serving on several committees and board positions at Temple of Israel over the past 24 years. Bob was especially passionate about preserving the Temple’s historic synagogue.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jackie; his children and their spouses, Jessica Casino and husband, Sander, of Raleigh, NC, and Josh Fetterman and wife, Anne, of Newton, MA; his five cherished grandchildren, Sam and Nate Casino, and Olivia, Daisy and Phoebe Fetterman; his sister, Joy Kane; sister-in-law, Iris Fetterman; brother-in-law, James Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

A celebration of Bob’s life will held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00pm at Temple of Israel Sanctuary, 1 S. Fourth Street, Wilmington, NC. A reception will follow downstairs in Rosenthal Hall, also at Temple of Israel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Temple of Israel Restoration 150 Fund, 922 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
