Joseph Elder Golden, 60

Joseph Elder Golden (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Joseph Elder Golden, 60, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, December 15, 2024 in Wilmington, NC. Joe was born December 17, 1963 in Dawson, Georgia. He was the third of seven children, born to James Perry and Nancy Dean Golden. He was raised in Georgia but spent the last 25+ years in North Carolina.

Joe was a loving husband and always attended to his wife Lynne who was his treasure on earth. Joe preferred the country life and enjoyed spending time in the open air, especially cooking in his outdoor kitchen. He was a more private person, yet if someone needed help, he would drop everything to see how he could assist by serving others. Many times, he would provide service constructing and assisting in projects for family and friends, never expecting anything in return. Although, he did not like to fly, he would always enjoy occasional road trips across the United States with his brother Jim. He enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving trips with Lynne to Gray, Georgia to visit with Jason and Tracey and other cousins from Savannah. He also loved visiting family in Enigma, Georgia.

Joe started working as a butcher at the local Meat packing store in Tifton, Georgia. He then transitioned his career focus on construction and repair as a self-employed tradesman in North Carolina. His favorite time spent working was in Hampstead on the Shingleton Farm.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen Lynnette (Lynne) Patten Golden, Mother, Nancy Galena Dean Golden, Debra Smith, James (Kimberly), George (Jennifer), Galena, Robert (Tracey), and Douglas (Tracey). Preceded in death by his father James Perry Golden and his brother-in-law David Smith, and his Uncle Dan and Aunt Nick.

Flowers can be sent to the Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St. Wilmington, NC 28401, or, in lieu of flowers, donations on behalf of Joseph Golden can be sent to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mission Fund.
