WILMINGTON — John Charles Tiganell, Sr., 80, of Wilmington, NC, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
John was born in Waterbury, CT, on October 2, 1944. After 30 years of service with Northeast Utilities John and his wife Elaine moved to Wilmington, NC, where John thoroughly enjoyed his life after retirement. He had many friends at The Cape along with all his golf buddies. He could be seen after golf entertaining his golf friends along with whatever neighbors may stop by to sit in this front yard and enjoy a beer. He had a passion for life and never lost his enthusiasm for even little everyday things.
John proudly served in the Air Force during the years of 1964 to 1968.
He spent some of his later years singing in a neighborhood band and earning a reputation as a good singer.
John is preceded in death by his brother, David, and his beloved son Scott.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Elaine of 59 years, his son, John Jr., his sisters, Diane Rimkus (John Rimkus), Joyce Gavell (Jim), his brother, Jimmy and wife Nancy, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 6, 2025, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30pm.
