Ronald W. Anderson, 75

Ronald W. Anderson (Coastal Cremations and Funeral Care)

Ronald Wayne Anderson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 75.

He was born on March 4, 1949, in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late Earl, Sr. and Marie Anderson. Ronald lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to family and faith.

After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, he embarked on a career as an 18-wheeler truck driver, a profession that allowed him to explore countless states and indulge in his love for travel. He delighted in visiting family and friends from coast to coast as he traveled, always eager to share stories about the open road. Visiting Atlantic City with his siblings was one of his favorite places to go, as it was always a time filled with laughter and adventure.

Ronald found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was driving anywhere the road might take him, listening to music, singing with his family at gatherings, or taking the kids out for ice cream. He had a passion for building and creating, whether it was working on house projects or building Lego sets at home.

A man of faith, Ronald was devoted to his Baptist beliefs, which guided him throughout his life. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds; he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be remembered most for his love of life, his free spirit, and his warm personality that made everyone feel at home. To know him was truly to love him.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Cheryl (Pomponio) Anderson; bonus son, Adam, and daughter-in-law, Alicia; and his girls, Tanya, Tina, Tiffany, and Taeshia. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Adam Jr., Gabriel, Miguel, and Jacob; and bonus grandchildren, Tiera, Elias, and Willow. Ronald was also blessed with great-grandchildren Rose, Lily, and Josiah—who is due to arrive any day now—and his bonus great-granddaughter, Dafne May.

Ronald is also survived by his sister, Judith Anderson Coward; brothers, Dennis and Robert, along with his sister-in-law, Martha. His extended family includes numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly; and his longtime friend, Douglas.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Edgar Jr. (Junnie), William (Sookie) and John; sister-in-law, Minerva; and bonus great-grandson, Milo.

Services to honor his remarkable life will be held at a later date, where loved ones will gather to remember the man who took care of everyone around him. He will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and lovingly remembered as Unc, Dunk, Uncle Ron and Gunc.
