WILMINGTON — Lillian Amber Pettigrew, a shining light and beloved member of the Wilmington community, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024 at her home at the age of 19. Lillian touched the hearts of everyone she met with her unwavering faith, kindness, and joyous spirit.
A 2024 graduate of Laney High School, Lillian was an active participant in her school and community, always striving to lift others with her joy and love. Her love for her Lord and Savior was evident in every aspect of her life, and she found great joy in being involved with activities at her cherished Northside Church. As a participant in the Special Olympics, a member of the YMCA, and a student in TPYA, Lillian’s enthusiasm for life and her commitment to tireless perseverance in all she did.
She leaves behind her loving parents, James Anthony (Andy) Pettigrew, Jr. and Darcie Anna Stehman Pettigrew, her twin sister Kaylee Pettigrew, and her brother James Anthony (Andy) Pettigrew, III. Also mourning her loss are her paternal grandfather, James Anthony Pettigrew, Sr., and his wife, Katie, of Rocky Point; her paternal grandmother, Karen Stanley, and her husband, Jim, of Wilmington; and her maternal grandparents, Charlie Stehman and Joan Willey, also of Wilmington. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins and numerous family members, her beloved pet “Marley”, and her loving church family who will all miss her dearly.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the physicians, nurses, therapists, and caregivers who provided Lillian with exemplary care and compassion.
