WILMINGTON — Susan Harper Haynsworth, 74, went to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, November 10, in Wilmington, NC after a period of declining health.
Born November 13, 1949, in Danville, VA, Susan was the daughter of the late Harriet Harper Haynsworth and Charles Riley Haynsworth, Jr. and granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert N. Harper and Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Haynsworth.
Susan was a faithful member of Pine Valley Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC. Throughout her adult life, she was a constant witness to the grace and love of Jesus Christ to all those she encountered.
Susan was a flight attendant for Piedmont Airlines and US Air. She had such fond memories of her career and loved to tell stories of her airline experiences. She brought happiness and joy to the passengers on her flights and the crew members she flew with.
Survivors include her sisters, Martha Haynsworth Hamlin and her husband, Lee, of Richmond, VA, Harriet Haynsworth Beale and her husband, Ray, of Danville, VA; and her brother, Charles Riley Haynsworth, III and his wife, Lynn, of Danville, VA. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Erin Parris, Kathryn Beale, Charles Haynsworth IV, John Haynsworth and Molly Duncan; her great nieces and nephews, Madeline Parris, Lyla Parris, Hailey Haynsworth, Emily Haynsworth, Will Haynsworth, Evie Haynsworth and Carson Duncan and Libby Duncan.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for all the excellent care given to Susan and the love shown to her by so many individuals in each organization. They also want to thank Susan’s lifelong friend, Nancy Hines Besenfelder for the many acts of kindness and true friendship she has shown to Susan during the past months.
