WILMINGTON — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, Barbara Anne McDuffie, aged 90, on November 2, 2024 in Wilmington, NC. Barbara was known for her independent spirit and generous heart.
Barbara graduated from AL Brown High School and built a successful career in banking, where she was respected for her strong work ethic and made many good friends. After retiring, she lovingly took care of her husband, James McDuffie until his death in 2005. Barbara cherished her time with her dog Phoebe and doting on her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her favorite football team, the Commanders (when they were winning) and loved her favorite TV shows, baking, cooking, and knitting.
She is survived by her large, loving, blended family: Lou Anne and Roy Boatwright, Chris and Anne Stancil, Amy and Mike Blackett, Karen McCombs, Kevin McDuffie, Denise Stancil, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Nesbit and Mabel Sills, brother Buddy Sills, husband James McDuffie, son John Stancil, and granddaughter Marie Adams.
Details of a celebration of life for Barbara will be announced at a later date.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
