SOUTHPORT — Elaine Y. Brookshire, 81, of Southport, North Carolina, passed away on September 29, 2024.
Elaine was born on June 15, 1943. She grew up in Greensboro and later relocated to the Southport Oak Island area in 1974. In 1999 her and her late husband George moved to Homestead Florida for about 12 years. Their dream was to move to Myrtle Beach SC after George retired. When George became sick, they moved to their retirement home in Ocean Lakes Campground, Myrtle Beach SC.
She loved her family and genuinely loved people. She never met a stranger. She was kind and had a heart of gold. She was a protector of her family. She was also known by her kid’s friends as Ms. Holcomb.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Margaret Yow, Ray Holcomb and her last love George Brookshire. She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley Papandrew.
She is survived by her daughter LuAnn Barwick, granddaughter Samantha Barber (DJ) and great grandson Mason Barber, grandson Nicholas Stiller. Her fraternal twins, Michelle Holcomb, late granddaughter Ashley Papandrew, great grandson Ryder Norwood and granddaughter Allison Mount (Andy). Michael Holcomb (Allison), grandson Brian Holcomb and great granddaughters Hailey and Sophia Holcomb and granddaughter Brooke Martin (Adam). Her youngest son, Mickey Holcomb (Jackie), her grandson Joshua Holcomb (Alexandra) great granddaughter Indie Holcomb, grandson Joshua Green (Gracie) great granddaughters Sadie and Charlotte Green, grandson Jordan Green, granddaughter Lacey Green (Joseph), great grandson Bryson Green. She is also survived by her sister, Pat Millis, her nieces Sharon McCarter (Kendall) and their family and her niece Kim Aman (Doug) and their family.
