WILMINGTON — James Franklin Mays, 82, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove in Wilmington.
He was born on March 15, 1942, in Currie, NC, to the late Cecil and Jessie (Blizzard) Mays.
Jim, a proud US Army veteran, was a member at Living Water Ministries for over 40 years. He loved God and his family and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Mays and wife, Sarah, Ronald Mays and wife, Lorraine; his daughter, Linda Lohman and husband, John; his son-in-law, Thomas Burriss, Jr.; his grandchildren, Tonya Lissor and husband, Rob, Diana Yates, Thomas Burriss III, Katelynn Crosby and husband, Matt, James Burriss, Dylan Lohman, Eli Mays, Emma Mays; special friends, Betty Lafave, Johnny and Nancy Bourdeaux, Sechia Rowell; and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Madeline (Cruz) Mays; his daughter, Juanita Burriss; his sister, Cecile Roberts; and his grandson, Remington Crosby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare or Disabled American Veterans or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Living Water Ministries with Pastor Rick Crocker officiating.
