WILMINGTON — Charles C. Wedemeyer, Jr. 87, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family, on September 16, 2024, at Novant New Hanover Hospital.
He was born in Latrobe, PA to Charles and Mary Catherine (Murphy) Wedemeyer.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra (Zink) Wedemeyer, daughter, Wendee Kirkley (David), and son, Scott (Airlie) Wedemeyer. He was the proud grandfather of Katie, Sara, Kevin, Emma, and Jack.
He was preceded in death by his sibling, Nancy Alexander.
Chuck served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1962. He then attended Trine University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had a very successful career working for several companies and the state of North Carolina. In 1978, he located and ran a German company, BeA Fasteners, in Hamlet, N.C.
Chuck will be remembered for his love of many things including boating, fishing, hunting, music and traveling; especially in his adopted state of North Carolina. His spirit will always be in the hearts of his family.
