CAROLINA BEACH — Oceana Maylin Burns, a cherished resident of Carolina Beach, NC, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Kingsport, TN, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lawrence Kiser Hubbard and Lois Irene Ashbrook Hubbard.
Oceana’s life was a tapestry of love and creativity. She had a tremendous passion for art, which she pursued with both skill and joy. She found immense beauty in nature and spent countless hours amidst its tranquility. Her pets were a constant source of happiness and companionship, and she cherished her time spent with dear friends. Above all, she delighted in her faith in God and took the greatest pride in being a devoted mother to her daughter, Olivia Burns.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Burns, her treasured daughter, Olivia Burns, and brother, Gary Hubbard of Bristol, VA. Oceana’s warm spirit, boundless love and welcoming smile will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Memorial services to honor Oceana’s life will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Myrtle Grove. A light reception will follow the service where the family will receive friends.
