LELAND — Mable Causey Hill, of Leland, NC, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by family and close friends on July 23, 2024.
She was born in rural Randolph County, NC on June 7, 1937 to William Colvin and Annis Mae Causey, both also from Randolph County. Born into a large family, she was the thirteenth and last child of her parents.
In addition to her parents and all of her siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Donald Odell Hill and three of her five children; Danny Odell Hill, Randy Joe Hill and Monica Lynn Hill.
Mable is survived by her daughter Teresa Hill Long of Leland, NC and her son Don Kevin Hill and his wife Maria, also of Leland, NC, nine grandchildren: Charlotte DeGrange, Heather Williams, Christopher Hill, Joshua Long, Danny Hill Jr., William Hill, Brandi Hill, Caleb Hill, Hannah Hill and eight great-grandchildren: Joshua Jr., Olivia, Phoebe, Tucker, Crystal, Gabrella, Greenly and Ember. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by several nieces, nephews and close family friends.
The Hill family moved to the Leland area in 1960. Along with her husband Donald, she founded and operated two long running businesses serving the greater local area; Woodburn Upholstery and Hill’s Well Drilling Co. She was well-known and respected throughout her community.
The Hill family would like to extend our special thanks and appreciation to Hospice and Karen Hill for the wonderful and loving care provided to our mother and grandmother during the twilight of her life. We would like to encourage anyone, in lieu of flowers, to make a donation to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice so that they can continue to provide their excellent service. We would also like to thank everyone for their prayers and concern during this difficult time.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Service – Village Road Chapel, 525 Village Road, Leland, NC 28451. Interment will follow at Toms Creek Cemetery in Denton, NC.
