HAMPSTEAD — Robert Joseph Julius, 92, of Hampstead, NC, died on July 8, 2024, at his home. He is the husband of the late Virginia “Ginny” (Pieper) Julius.
Bob was born on May 10, 1932 in St. Louis, MO., to the late Boniface and Lillian (McLard) Julius. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Affectionately known as ‘Gramps”, he loved his family deeply, spending time with them as much as possible. He proudly served our country as an ACB in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War Conflict and went on to work for Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, PA as an Electrical Engineer. As an avid soccer player and young father, he saw the need for an organized soccer program in the Lehigh Valley and was instrumental in helping to form the Greater Bethlehem Soccer League (GBSL) to provide an outlet for children of all ages to develop a love for soccer.
Upon retiring, he and Ginny moved from Hellertown, PA, to Hampstead, NC and were devoted members of All Saints Catholic Church. There were dedicated to their community and enjoyed being members of Olde Point Golf and Country Club where they made many wonderful friends. Gramps enjoyed golf, swimming, Sunday brunches, and weekly trivia night at the Club. He loved visits from his family especially at Holidays and summer beach reunions on Topsail Island. He enjoyed travelling to see his grandchildren in their activities and milestones as well as extended family in St. Louis, Florida, and Texas.
Gramps is survived by his six children: Son, Robert (Jennee) of Manhattan Beach, CA; Daughter, Kathleen Muschlitz of Hampstead, NC; Daughter, Mary Christine (Shawn) Spieth of Dallas, TX; Daughter, Theresa (Jack) Koenig of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter, Jacqueline (Peter) Nielson of Slatington, PA; and Son, Daniel (Bernice) Julius, Abington, PA.
