Rosaline Ann (Cruse) Gualardo, born March 9, 1934 in Altoona, PA passed away peacefully at her home in Carolina Shores, NC on July 3, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Versal E. Cruse and Ruth E. (Claar) Cruse, and a brother, Robert Cruse (Mary Zabala). She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Joseph B. Gualardo; daughter, Darcy Ann Tomko (Robert) and son, Samuel Joseph Gualardo (Pamela); grandchildren, Melissa Rose Triplett (Ryan). Matthew Robert Tomko (Desiree), Alexi Rose Neil (Kurt), and Zachary Joseph Gualardo (Dalton); great-grandchildren, Gavin, Makenna Rose, Amelia, Gabriel, Jaxson, Layne, Colson, Baylee Rose and Alaina; brother, Kenneth Cruse (Isabele); nephews, Denny, Shane, Dale and nieces, Robin and Stacy.

Rosalie, as she was known, was a graduate of Johnstown Central High School, Johnstown, PA, ST. Margaret Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA, where she studied to become a Registered Nurse; and Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree respectfully.

Rosalie started her career as a Registered Nurse at Lee Mercy Hospitals in Johnstown. She was an instructor in the Practical Nursing Program at Greater Johnstown Area Vocational-Technical School and taught in the Health Assistant program at GJAVTS from 1972-1983. She was then appointed as the Coordinator of the GJAVTS Practical Nursing Program. During her tenure from 1983-1986 she and her staff worked to get the Practical Nursing Program nationally accredited. In 1986 she became an administrator at GJAVTS and retired as the school’s Principal in 1993. Rosalie was a member of many professional Health and Educational Associations and was an original member of the Harvard Medical School Nurse’s Health Study.

A long-time resident of both Johnstown, PA and Hidden Valley, PA, Rosalie was always grateful for the many opportunities she had and shared with so many people during her life time. She always said, “God was good to me.” She considered her greatest achievement in life to be the love she and Joe shared for 67+ years and the family they created. Family meant everything to her and came before everything else.

She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be forever loved and missed for her engaging personality, her unconditional love of her husband and family, her beautiful smile and her unwavering positive outlook on life.
