WILMINGTON — Jean Carol Medlin Carroll, 92 departed from this life July 5th, 2024, at home with family by her side.
She was survived by her husband of 75 years, Charles Ralph Carroll; daughter, Lucy Jean Carroll O’Neill, husband Paul; son, Charles “Chip” L. Carroll, wife Susan; four grandchildren, Michael O’Neill (Jeanette), Rick O’Neill (Cat), Chance Carroll (Laura) and AJ Stanaland (Wade); six great-grandchildren, Lucy O’Neill, Elizabeth O’Neill, Elza O’Neill, Sawyer Jean Stanaland, Weston Stanaland and Millie O’Neill all who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Jean Medlin; and a sister, Martha Williams.
Carol earned her LPN license in 1979 and worked for Dr. Farrell Shuford until they both retired.
Her retirement was spent playing cards and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol had many friends, and always loved a good party. Her grandchildren remember her as a nurse, as well as an enthusiastic amateur fashion critic and life coach.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday July 10th starting at 6:00 PM at All Souls Episcopal Church located at 5087 Blue Banks Loop Rd NE, Leland, NC 28451. In true Carol Carroll fashion, the family will host a celebration of her life/reception at 7:00 PM on the farm at 5014 Northwest Rd NE, Riegelwood, NC 28456 (across from the church).
