WILMINGTON — Timothy “Tim” Curtis, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024, at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina, surrounded by his devoted wife and children.
He was born on July 7, 1954, in Washington D.C. to Harold and Florence Curtis, and grew up in Arlington, Virginia.
Tim’s life was profoundly marked by his early romance with Ann Shepley Curtis, whom he met at the age of 13. Their enduring love story blossomed into a 50-year marriage, celebrated just this April. Tim dedicated over three decades to his career in electrical sales, working as a branch manager at McNaughton-McKay Electrical Company, overseeing offices in Wilmington, New Bern, and Fayetteville until his retirement in 2018. He cherished his annual fishing trips to Portsmouth Island and treasured every opportunity to build lasting relationships with his customers.
In retirement, Tim delighted in road trips with his family, discovering new restaurants, and meticulously organizing his garage, which earned him acclaim for its impeccable orderliness. He also found joy in woodworking projects and tending to his yard with care. Tim was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and never missed watching their games, always proudly wearing their colors.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Ann Shepley Curtis; their children, Kelly Curtis Read and Matthew Timothy Curtis; grandchildren Kylie and Fisher Read; sister Sharon Cope; and extended family including in-laws Bill and Lori Shepley, Cyndi Shepley, and nephews James Paul and Zachary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence Curtis; his granddaughter, Makayla Marie Read; and his in-laws Paul and Pam Shepley and Tim Shepley.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Thursday, June 27th, from 4 to 6 pm at Andrew’s Valley Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28th, at 11 am at the same location.
