WILMINGTON — Jean Cratch Gurkin, born on October 16, 1943, in Blounts Creek, NC, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 80.
Jean dedicated her life to helping others as a Professional Social Worker and retired from Neuse Mental Health. She was known for her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to her community.
In her personal life, Jean had a deep love for outdoor living and cherished all animals. She found joy and fulfillment in nature. Additionally, she had a keen interest in genealogy, spending countless hours studying and researching her family’s history.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Randolph Cratch and Geneva Holliday Cratch. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Olivia Davis, and husband Jeff Davis. She also leaves behind her special childhood friend since she was six years old, Willie Crisp, and her dear friend James Luther Harvey.
Private services will be planned to honor Jean’s memory. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
