WILMINGTON — Amy Roberts Bonds, 54, of Wilmington, NC went to be with the Lord on June 21st, 2024 after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.
She was, and will always remain, the beloved wife of Greg Bonds, who loved her faithfully and never left her side. Together they raised two sons, Grant and Zachary Bonds, both of Raleigh, NC, which Amy considered the greatest joy of her life.
She touched the lives of hundreds of others through her chosen profession, having taught preschool at Pine Valley Methodist Church’s Wee Care. Amy’s passion for education and her dedication to leading others to the Lord combined there, allowing her to faithfully love and serve the school for 21 years.
Amy was a devout member of Coastal Community Baptist Church, where her faith deepened and her family found the love and support they treasure in this difficult time.
Amy was a mentor to all, inside and outside of the classroom. Even in the midst of her tremendous suffering she was unfailingly generous. She never missed an opportunity to take care of others, through delivering meals, donating to shelters, serving at church, or making care packages for the homeless, and she continued her legacy of altruism right up to the end of her life.
Amy’s devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she was blessed to be loved and adored by a loyal husband for nearly 30 years. Their dedication to one another and to their sons will forever be an inspiration to all who knew them.
Amy was born on December 3, 1969, and grew up in Rices Landing, PA. She married the love of her life on August 13th, 1994, and they moved to Wilmington in 1997. In addition to her husband and sons, Amy is survived by her parents, Dennis and Barbara Roberts of Bardstown, KY; two sisters, Elizabeth (Lance) Bailey of Lewisburg, WV, and Heather (Chris) Roberts-Nault of Bardstown, KY. She is also survived by her grandparents, Harold and Elaine Ritenour of Waynesburg, PA and eight nieces and nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Boyd and Mary Roberts of Dry Tavern, PA, and Marion Ritenour of Connellsville, PA.
A celebration of Amy’s life will be held at Coastal Community Baptist Church, 7721 Alexander Road, Wilmington, NC, 28411 on Friday, June 28th at 11:00 AM. A visitation will start at 10:00 AM., with a committal service to follow the service at Oleander Memorial Gardens. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday.
