HAMPSTEAD — Susan A. Collins, aged 71, passed away on June 13, 2024, in North Topsail Beach, N.C. after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on September 10, 1952, in Philadelphia. She graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School, continuing on to achieve her Master’s Degree from Penn State University. Susan was a beloved Kindergarten teacher for 25 years, known for her dedication to her students. She adored children and the beach, spending her free time playing with her grandkids and enjoying the sunny shores.
In 1970, Sue met her husband Danny at their High School Graduation party and went on to have 3 daughters. Their love spanned over 54 years. Susan deeply loved her family. Spending time with Danny and the Girls at the pool, the beach, or around a table full of delicious home-cooked food was all it took to light up her radiant smile. If her smile was already shining brightly for her family, her 5 grandchildren added even more laughter and joy! She actively participated in their lives, taking time to support their individual interests – whether that meant she was sitting on the sidelines of various sporting events in all kinds of weather, shopping in store after store with her only granddaughter, reading endless books on topics of their choice, cooking, crafting, and playing board games for hours – she was ALL in! Her love was limitless, and this love was extended to many other children who still call her Grammie to this day!
Susan’s friends were just as important to her as her family, in essence they became family. Her ability to listen with empathy drew people to her, and created lifelong bonds, often after only one conversation!
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dolores Serianni, and her brothers Frankie & Eddie Serianni. She is survived by her Husband, Daniel Collins; Daughters, Marissa Young, Gretchen Collins, and Bridget Williams; Grandchildren, Carl Young V, Ethan Young, Myles Young, Makenzie Williams, and Maxwell Williams; Sisters, Jane Salazar, Donna Shore, and Lisa Glenn and countless nieces and nephews and their families.
A Funeral Mass in memory of Susan will be held at 11am Friday, June 28, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Church. (18737 Hwy 17, Hampstead NC 28443). The family will receive visitors one hour prior, beginning at 10am.
