HAMPSTEAD — Naomi Jeannine Watson, “Jeanie,” age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead, North Carolina.
She was born January 28, 1947 in Washington, NC and graduated from Bear Grass High School in 1965. After receiving nursing degrees from Beaufort County Community College and Edgecombe Community College, she worked as an LPN and a Registered Nurse for many years.
Jeanie’s favorite activity was spending time with her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and loved helping others as a nurse. She was very artistic and you could always find her catching up on her “stories” every afternoon (especially The Young and the Restless). She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Aunt, and we will all miss her so much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Margaret Mayo Watson and her step-father William Herbert Mizelle. She is survived by her son, Ted Gray (Jeannette), brothers, Lawrence Watson (Diana) and Billy Mizelle (Lisa), sister, Anna DeGeest, two granddaughters, Leah Gray and Reagan Gray, grandson Josh Gray, nieces, Ginger Moore and Jamie Tice, nephews, Lawrence Watson, William Mizelle and Daniel DeGeest, and several great nephews and one great niece.
The family will host a celebration of life at a later date. The family would like to express our thanks to the wonderful staff at Woodbury Wellness Center for all the love and care they provided to Jeanie over the past four years. Jeanie truly loved you all.
