HAMPSTEAD — Ruth Esther Berger, 96, of Hampstead, NC, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 3, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care.
She was born in Colmar Manor, MD, on August 3, 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alden Berger.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Todd (Bobby), Becky Watkins (Wayne); three grandchildren, Christopher Curtin (Candice), Wesley Dixon (Faith), and Jay Dixon; and three great-grandchildren, Swain Curtin, Christian Curtin, and Joshua Dixon.
Mrs. Berger was a longtime member of Gideons International and a current member of Hampstead Baptist Church. During her life she was always active in the church, including singing in the choir. She was a wonderful homemaker and as well as working with her husband in his engraving business.
Her family will remember her as a beloved wife, mother, and “Gram.”
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at Hampstead Baptist Church. The burial will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. immediately prior to the service.
