Dennis Earle Brock, 73

Dennis Earle Brock (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dennis Earle Brock, who left us on May 24, 2024, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 73. He was born on January 29,1951, in Fayetteville, NC, and lived a life full of dedication and service to others.

Dennis graduated from James Kenan High School and went on to earn a degree from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. He had a distinguished career, impacting many lives as a certified substance abuse counselor (CSAC). Dennis worked at DuPont and the Southeastern Center before becoming a co-owner of Golden Harvest, an addiction treatment and assessment center. After his retirement, he continued to help those in crisis as a patient advocate at New Hanover Hospital. He was a dog and horse lover. He also was an antique and muscle car aficionado, and took great pride in his collection of cars. He loved old tractors and farm equipment. He enjoyed being an extra in several Hallmark movies… but his vehicles were paid more to be used in the movies than he was, much to the amusement of his younger sister!

Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Wade and Melverna Brock. He is survived by his sister, Ginger Brock Jamieson Godwin and brother-in-law, Larry Godwin, of Virginia Beach; his nieces, Gina Lesinski and Jennifer Jamieson of Virginia Beach; his nephew, Brad Jamieson and wife Liana of Falls Church, Virginia; and his six great-nephews and nieces, Frankie, Zach, Emily, Luke, Gabe, and Julianna Lesinski, also of Virginia Beach. He leaves behind an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his best friend of 60 years, Eugene Newkirk of Ayden, NC; and his dear friend and neighbor, Robert Gillis.

Per his request, there will be NO SERVICE.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Dennis’ memory, reflecting his commitment to helping those with substance abuse and mental health issues as well as his 42 years of sobriety.
