WILMINGTON — Barbara Anne Jones Washburn, lovingly known as Barbara, passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2024, in her hometown of Wilmington, NC.
Born on May 24, 1954, Barbara lived a vibrant and exciting life as a military spouse filled with love, laughter and travel, leaving behind cherished memories for those who knew her. She was a graduate of John T. Hoggard High School class of 1972, and then of UNC Wilmington.
At the age of 69, Barbara embarked on her final journey, succumbing to natural causes.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Vance and Mary Hall Jones.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Benjamin Washburn, and their two sons, Benjamin and Andrew Washburn. She also leaves behind her brothers Roland and Jim Jones, sister Susan J. Hunter, and six adoring grandchildren: Emma, Carrie, Lucy, Camille, Megan, and Maddie Washburn.
Barbara’s spirit will forever be remembered by those she touched, and her lively personality will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday May 7, 2024 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A private family burial will take place following the service.
