HAMPSTEAD — John Eathon Furr, age 58, of Hampstead, NC passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 as the result of a tragic worksite accident.
He was born on January 18, 1966 in Moore County, NC to the late James William Furr and Nora Elizabeth James Furr.
John was very good with his hands, making gun stocks and knives, and forging metal. He was also a self-made historian. God gave John a big heart. He was a family man who loved his family very much. John was a bright light to many people and he will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his brothers, Jack Furr (Rhonda Lewis), William James, and Milton Samuel James; sisters, Nora Vaughan and Faye Willhite; aunt, Mary Atkinson; nieces, Cindy Willhite, Monica James, Macy Raye Furr, and Sandy Vaughan; and nephews, Ronald Jack Furr, Kennedy Smith, and Bobby Vaughan.
A memorial service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Merrell McKoy officiating.
