WILMINGTON — Barbara Lee (Davis) Billings, known to many as Bobbi, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, in Wilmington, NC. Born on October 1, 1937, in Charleston, WV, Bobbi lived a life filled with passion, music, and love. She was a vibrant soul who touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Bobbi began her incredible journey through life by following her heart’s desire – music. Her singing career in jazz music started as a teenager, leading her to collaborate with renowned bands and musicians in Los Angeles, CA, and Nashville, TN. Settling in North Carolina, she established her band, “Bobbi and Friends,” sharing her musical talents with the community.
Beyond her love for music, Bobbi was a devoted cat lover and a dedicated philanthropist. Her compassion and generosity extended not only to animals but also to those in need within her community. In 1960-62 her musical career included a volunteer tour of Korea and Japan where she served with the American Red Cross.
Bobbi is survived by her daughter, Laura Pleasant and family, and her beloved brother, Robert Michael Davis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Howard Davis and Talma Mary (Goodwin) Davis, as well as two brothers.
