WILMINGTON — Paul G. Krauss passed peacefully on February 14, 2024 after a brief illness. A Wilmington resident for nearly thirty years, he was born in the Albany, New York area where he raised a family with his wife of 58 years.
A tireless and passionate educator, he taught Fine Arts, lecturing in drawing, painting and ceramics in parts of four decades, mentoring students during their time in the classroom and well beyond. A member of several arts groups in Wilmington including the Cameron Museum Life Drawing group, he could often be found plein air painting in the historic district or at the water’s edge. Paul was also a life long gardening enthusiast who, most recently, developed a large collection of orchids.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his sons Darin (Elizabeth) and Andrew (Mumtaz), three grandchildren Mekayl, Elinya and Aiden, a large group of friends and a legion of former students.
He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to New Hanover County Arboretum, DREAMS Center of Arts Education, or Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Hospice.
