WILMINGTON — Dale A. Compito, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 81. He was born on September 30, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Benito and Madeline Compito.
Dale lived a fulfilling life, finding joy in the simple pleasures it had to offer. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of mountains and often found solace in their majestic presence. When he wasn’t exploring the great outdoors, Dale enjoyed spending his time watching television, finding entertainment and relaxation in the stories unfolding on the screen.
Above all, Dale cherished his family and treasured the moments spent with them. He was a devoted father to his sons, Damian Compito (Kari) and Andre Compito (Aria), and his daughter, Adrienne Doidge (John). His brothers, Manuel Compito, Allen Compito, and Fred Compito. Dale’s love extended to his grandchildren, Dakota Compito, Dakota Doidge, and Lily Doidge, who brought immense joy to his life.
Dale was preceded in death by his loving wife, Adrienne Compito, as well as two sons, Valentino Villegas and Keiko Villegas. Their memories will forever be held close to his heart.
In his quiet demeanor and gentle spirit, Dale leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who were fortunate enough to have known him.
In honoring Dale’s wishes, there will be no services held at this time. Instead, the family kindly requests that any memorial donations be made to the Cape Fear Literacy Council.
May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength for those who mourn his loss.
