CASTLE HAYNE — Dennis “Dan” Lee Miller, age 77, of Castle Hayne, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, November 5, 2023. He was in the care of Hospice Life Care Center Wilmington, NC. He was born on July 18, 1946 in Fresno, California to the late Charles Leroy Miller and Lenora Jessie Hurlbut.
He worked for BellSouth after serving in the US Army. After retirement he worked as the Teen Court and Restitution Coordinator for Columbus County, NC. Dan was an avid wood worker/carver and builder and enjoyed working with young people and helping anyone in need of anything. He was a hardworking, honest man of integrity who loved his family and loved serving the Lord. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and special brother and sister-in-law Daniel Kenneth and Patricia Hardee.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Hardee Miller; his sons Mikel Dale Miller (Kelley) of Castle Hayne, NC, Matthew Donald Hamilton of Castle Hayne, NC, daughters Sandra Jane Lenzi of Castle Hayne, NC, Catherine (Kitty) Rae Thompson (Scott) of Raleigh, NC. Grandchildren Joshua Aaron Lindahl (Sarah) of Jacksonville, Florida, Ariel Alexius Thompson of Whiteville, NC, Sara Rain Thompson of Wilmington, NC, Elizabeth Allen Lindahl Dobson (Zack) of Newland, NC. Great grandchildren Taya Meadow Dobson and Ezra Reed Dobson of Newand, NC, Karen Nevaeh Thompson of Whiteville, NC; a sister Marilyn Irwin Moore (Johnnie) of Newport, Oregon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Canady Miller and son Dennis Lee Miller, Jr.
There will be a Celebration of Life on November 18, 2023, 1 p.m. at the home of Mikel and Kelley.
