WILMINGTON — Our precious child, Gretchen Elizabeth Holleman, left her life of pain behind to be with her heavenly Father on October 21, 2023.
Gretchen is survived by her son, Alec Jordan Holleman, her brother, Joshua Dustin Lutz, and her parents, Gail and Brec Connett. Gretchen was a wonderful daughter, caring mother and loving sister. We will all remember Gretchen’s infectious laugh, smile and her ability to find joy in worst of situations.
Gretchen’s family would like to thank all of her wonderful teams of doctors and care givers for their incredible devotion to Gretchen during her battle with Huntington’s Disease. Her doctors at the Duke Center for Movement Disorder, Dr. Tighe at the Novant Health Family Medicine Pine Forest, her daily caregivers Lisa and Jennifer, her palliative care nurse-practitioner Shawna and the entire staff at the Lower Cape Fear Life Center cannot be thanked enough for the wonderful care that they provided to Gretchen, as well as the support that they provided her family.
A private celebration of Gretchen’s life will be held at a future date.
