WILMINGTON — Thomas Ronald Campbell (“Tom”) passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2023, at home.
He was the son of Anne Opsatnik Campbell & Charles Audley Campbell. Tommy was born July 22, 1953, six minutes after his twin sister, Marcie.
Tommy was a 1971 graduate of New Hanover High School. He played soccer for the Wildcats. After taking classes at UNCW and Cape Fear Technical Institute, he began his working life at E.I.Dupont de Nemours in Leland. During his time there, he was involved with helping engineering design 3-D blueprints and drew most safety posters reminding employees of safety protocols. Tom was a fantastic artist. He would draw animals for his children to name and delight in. Tommy could draw anything from house blueprints to portraits. He took his drawing pad to the Pittsburgh Museum at age 6 to draw pictures of the dinosaurs. He had a real God-given talent.
Tommy is survived by older brother, Charles Vance Campbell, sister-in-law Caron Campbell, twin sister Marcella Campbell Fox, brother-in-law, Douglas A. Fox, daughter, Mary Elizabeth Campbell, son, Thomas Michael Campbell, and grandson, Caleb Campbell
As per his wishes, there will be no service. His ashes will be scattered at a later date.
If desired, donations can be made to the local New Hanover Humane Society in memory of Tom, as he had lost his favorite pet “Kizzy” in the last few months. He was quite distraught losing his cat. Tommy was such a sweet soul. You are loved and missed.
