WILMINGTON — Robert Earl Bryan gloriously entered his Heavenly home on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 25, 1941 to Homer Lyons Bryan and Mary Ruth Lyons Bryan in Washington, DC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Bryan and his brothers: James Bryan and Max Johnson.
Mr. Bryan had served as a teacher of Engineering and Drafting at Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC for thirty years. Robert, better known as “Bob” had a unique, contagious laughter along with a personality of “knowing no stranger.” He also had a way of sharing Jesus with others in a caring and loving manner, with results of many experiencing salvation, one word could sum up Bob’s life…LOVE.
He is leaving behind the love of his life, his faithful wife of sixty years, Jo McKinney Bryan; three grandchildren: Sydney Marzullo and husband Nicholas, Shayne Ryan and husband Tyler, and Ben Bryan; one great granddaughter, Charlsie Ryan; three step-grandchildren: Heath Ricker, Cole Ricker and Luke Slagle; brothers: Homer Bryan and wife Brenda and Oren Johnson; sisters: Gloria Southerland and Debbie Jenkins and husband Benny, daughter in law Yvette Bryan, and other in-laws, all too numerous to mention, of which he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Indigo Hills Ministry, 144 Taylor Drive, Jonesborough, TN, 37659. This ministry outreaches to ministers who need a retrieve to get alone and be refreshed by God. It houses a prayer cabin built in memory of their son, Kevin Bryan.
A Memorial Service will be planned and announced at a later date in Wilmington, NC.
