Christi Lynn Dennis, 63

Christi Lynn Dennis (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Christi Lynn Dennis, age 63, of Wilmington, NC passed away on August 29, 2023. Born on June 6, 1960 to Patsy Dennis and Captain Lonnie Dennis, her beloved “Daddio” who preceded her in death in 2018.

Chris, as she was known to all, was a remarkable woman and a kind and genuine soul. Brilliant, with a PHD in Archaeology and Anthropology, her spark was first ignited when, at age 6, her cousin Keith broke open a rock they were exploring and she found her first fossil. Her travels took her on archaeological digs to Greece, Jordan, Turkey and throughout the Middle East and, of course, her beloved Daddio would fly in just to visit and spend time with his little girl. In later years Chris worked and lived in Austin, TX in the teaching sector and her love for Austin and her friends there came up in stories many times, often followed by a wistful sigh…

Chris loved to cook and used her Middle Eastern and Mediterranean knowledge to come up with her own creative concoctions. In recent years as her body failed her she still retained a sense of humor and intellect and could converse on history, social issues and most of all…politics! Chris loved her politics!

Chris also loved nature and wildlife and would spend countless hours at her window watching the deer, rabbits and bluebirds and would excitedly send texts or photos whenever a new brood of babies was making the rounds of the front yard. Above all she loved her kitty, Mickey Mouse who was her ever present companion.

Chris is survived by her mother Patsy and her brother Charles. She is also deeply missed by her close friends Jackie and Suzette, Margaret, Summer and Ollie, Barb, cousins Keith and Susan and many more whose lives were touched and forever changed by knowing such a remarkable spirit.

A private celebration of life with a tree planting and the spreading of Chris and Lonnie’s ashes will be held in the near future.

Donations in Chris’s name may be given to any animal rescue shelters of your choice.
