SOUTHPORT — Clarence David Gullion, 86, of Southport, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.
A native of Marion, VA, Dave was the son of the late Daisy (Williams) and Albert Gullion.
Dave worked in retail management all his life, retiring twice from Roses, Inc. He loved to hunt and would proudly show off photos of turkeys he bagged. Dave also loved to fish and was a member of the Fishin’ Fools club. In later life, he became an enthusiastic golfer.
In addition to his wife, Geneva “Polly” (Blevins) of 62 years, Dave was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Ericson and his sisters, Elsie Gullion and Marion Hagy.
Dave is survived by daughter, Rebecca Gullion Palmer and husband Marty of Southport; son, Clarence David Gullion, Jr. and wife Susan of Susan of Sanford; and daughter Paula Gullion Rosenbloom and husband Lew of Winnabow; son-in-law Martin Ericson of Concord; grandchildren, Michael Geoffrey Palmer, Kiernan Luna Palmer, Elizabeth Jane Palmer, Margaret Amelia Ericson, Alyssa Lynn Palmer, Kellen Jack Rosenbloom, and Michael Geoffrey Palmer, Jr.; sisters, Mabel G (James) Robinson of Marion, Virginia, and Eleanor G (John) Wixson of Gastonia, North Carolina and dear longtime friend, Alice Braswell.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26, at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, NC.
