BURGAW — Brian James Beauchemin passed peacefully on May 30, 2023 at his home in Burgaw, NC after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Plattsburgh, New York in 1952 and grew up in Dannemora, NY. Brian was the son of Arnold and Jean Beauchemin, of Dannemora.
Brian is survived by his wife, Colleen Gallagher-Beauchemin of Burgaw; his sister, Barbara Raab and husband, Michael; brother, Bradley Beauchemin; niece, Randi Pyne; grand- niece, Emily Pyne; step-daughters, Riley and Christina Meek.
Brian lived and worked as a computer programmer for IBM in Binghamton, NY before moving to Burgaw where he worked for the Pender County Department of Public Safety maintaining their computer systems. When Brian retired in 2014 he and his wife, Colleen, enjoyed traveling with their RV, kayaking and horseback riding. Brian consistently showed his creative talent winning awards starting in grade school with science projects and throughout his life. He had an amazing ability to figure out and fix anything from mechanical to full construction including building his own home in Burgaw. He was an avid gardener from flowers to vegetables and especially his prized tomatoes and blueberries. The culinary delights resulting in this fresh produce were always a treat for all. His love of animals was evident with their mini farm of goats, pigs and ducks as well as pet Labradors and their prize winning Beagles.
