HAMPSTEAD — Clifford Weldon Horrell, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21st at Stonebridge at Woodbury in Hampstead, NC. He was surrounded by his loving family as well as his dedicated caregivers at Stonebridge as he went on to his heavenly home.
Clifford was born in Onslow County to Charles McClain Horrell and Jessie Jones Horrell. The youngest of nine children. In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his siblings, Grace DeBose, Sabra Anderson, Mary Mintz, Carlee Coates, Elvin Horrell and Charles Horrell.
Clifford is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda Pierce Horrell; daughters, Susan Rivenbark (Dean) and Jennifer Cobb (Richard); grandchildren, Josh Cobb, Jacob Cobb and Luke Rivenbark; brother, Terry Horrell; sister, Peggy Nelms (Jerry); many nieces, nephews extended family members and friends.
Clifford served his country honorably and proudly as a Sergeant in the US Air Force. He retired from General Electric Company (Nuclear Fuel Division) in Castle Hayne after 33 years. He made many lifelong friends there.
Clifford had a lifelong love of sports and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with friends on the golf course, but his favorite outdoor activity was gardening alongside the love of his life, Linda.
Those that knew Clifford would describe him as a loving, kind, and generous man who was well respected. He was active in his church and his love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived his life. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
