WILMINGTON — Judith Ann Rooks, 87, of Wilmington, NC died Friday, May 12, 2023 at her residence.
Judith Ann Rooks, age 87 of Wilmington died peacefully at home on Friday, May 12, 2023. Judy was born January 6, 1936 in Pender County. She was the daughter of the late Norman A Rooks and Eleanor L Rooks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J Rooks, Jr. and daughter Carol McClellan. Surviving are her children, Angela (John/Mousey) Powell and Kevin (Bruce) Baker-Rooks; grandchildren Ryan (Haley) McClellan, Nichole Anderson, Ethan (Ashley) McClellan, Grayson Powell, Taylor Powell, and Brayden Baker-Rooks; and great grandchildren Easton Anderson, Harper and Hayes McClellan. Also surviving are Judy’s brothers Joe (Thelma) Rooks, John (Sandi) Rooks, and sister June Rooks.
Judy worked in several retail locations in Wilmington throughout her life, the latest being TJ Maxx where she retired at the age of 84. She enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers, coloring and mostly spending time with her family. Judy was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery with family receiving friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
A celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
