Lewis Allison “Al” Highsmith IV, 46

Lewis Allison “Al” Highsmith IV was born on July 12, 1976 to Margaret Hoskins Johnson and the late Lewis Allison Highsmith III.

Al passed away at his home in Raleigh on April 7, 2023 and is survived by his Mother and Stepfather Dr. and Mrs. J.R. Johnson Jr., Brother Stephen Highsmith, Nephew Eason and Niece Ella whom he adored more than anyone.

Al spent his career working for the Department of Commerce and had a personal and professional mission to help others at any cost.

There was a poem on his phone from one of his favorite musicians that I think he would want shared “Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you’re riding through the ruts, don’t complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealous. Don’t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake up and live! ~ Bob Marley.

His family is respecting his wishes by not having a public service, but please celebrate Al’s life the way Al would want you to celebrate his life.

With the mind of a genius and deeply methodical approach to every move he made, Al was recently diagnosed with Aspergers and his family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to:
