WILMINGTON — Evelyn Early Morris, 86 of Wilmington passed away on February 28, 2023. Evelyn was born on July 16, 1936, to Raymond and Sadie Early in Roanoke, Virginia. In 1961 she married Bob Morris of Brookneal, Virginia. They moved to Atlanta, GA and started their family. After many years they relocated to Raleigh, NC to start a manufacturing company and raised their children there. Evelyn was a successful public relations coordinator with Epley and Associates until she and Bob retired to Topsail Island, NC.
She is survived by her son, Jeff S. Morris (Gail) of Wilmington, NC; two stepchildren, Mandy Boggs of Brookneal, VA and Randy Morris of Amherst, VA; eight grandchildren and many close friends. In addition to her parents Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Maurice Early; daughters, Risa-Carlene and Deborah Morris; son, Anthony Morris and her beloved husband, Bob R. Morris.
Evelyn will be remembered for her great love of family and friends. She also enjoyed her many animals and always could find it in her home and heart for “one more”. She volunteered at many organizations in Wilmington and was an active member of Sneads Ferry Presbyterian and in later years Windermere Presbyterian in Wilmington, NC. She enjoyed her church family and served on many committees and was an Elder in both churches. Her determination to be active was exemplified in her joy for bowling, bridge, walking and gardening.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Windermere Presbyterian Church, 104 Windermere Road, Wilmington.
