WILMINGTON — Marjorie “Margie” L. Meeks Ard, 83, of Wilmington, NC, passed into the arms of Jesus on January 26, 2023, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Margie was born on February 5, 1939, in Farmville, NC to the late Ashley and Melva Meeks.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Ard; 3 sisters, Dricilla McLaughlin, Rachel Moore, Frances Cunningham; 2 brothers, Bobby Meeks, Paul Meeks, and 2 nieces, Annette Cunningham and Delores Beverly.
She is survived by a niece, Charlotte Cunningham, a great-great niece, Ivy Beverly and husband Little Jeff Wiggins Jr, 2 great-great-great nephews, Avery Wiggins, Little Jeff Wiggins III, and her dog, Evo.
Margie was a hair stylist for 58 years and worked at Miracle on 39th Street Salon. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carolina Beach, NC. Her favorite pastime was playing with her nephews and reading her Bible. Margie was a kind soul and had the most genuine laugh.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd in Wilmington, NC by Rev. Hal Hiatt, Rev. Molly Painter, and singing performed by Mandy V. Davis.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd in Wilmington.
A repast will be held after the service by First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach at 409 N. Lake Park Blvd., Carolina Beach, NC 28428.
In lieu of flowers, her family requested donations be directed to First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach.
