James “Jimmy” McCauley, 64

WILMINGTON — James “Jimmy” McCauley went home to be with his Lord on July 30, 2022. 

Jimmy was born on February 13, 1958 in Wilmington, NC.  He was employed at Invista, formerly Cape Industries, for 27 years.  He worked at Blue Knight Energy Products since 2006.

Jimmy was married for 46 years to his best friend and high school sweetheart, Marie Barefoot McCauley.  They had one daughter, Chrissy McCauley of Leland, NC.  He leaves behind his precious dog Lucy, whom he loved dearly.

Jimmy grew up on Whiskey Creek at Masonboro Sound.  He was a great-grandson of Henry Kirkham, who owned an old Masonboro favorite, Uncle Henry’s Oyster Roast. Jimmy was an avid fisherman, and spent many days out on the sound that he loved so much.  He was a huge gun enthusiast.  He enjoyed target shooting and dove hunting.  He was a man of many hobbies.  Anyone who knew Jimmy knew of his vast knowledge of history and of the Bible.  He was a great friend to many and wise beyond his years. 

Jimmy was a member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church, and also a member of the Wilmington Lodge #319 of Free and Accepted Masons.

Jimmy was predeceased by his father, David E. McCauley, his mother Carolyn Kirkham McCauley, and his sister Pamela McCauley Swain.   He is survived by his brother Michael McCauley and his wife Linda of Orlando, FL,  and by his sister Katherine McCauley Bamber of Malta.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 7, at Wrightsboro Baptist Church, 2736 Castle Hayne Rd, Wilmington, NC 28401, where friends may call from 1:30 PM until time of services.  Inurnment will follow at Masonboro Baptist Church Cemetery, and will include a Masonic Burial Service provided by Lodge #319 of Wilmington.
