Judy Reeves Eason, 78

WILMINGTON — Judy Reeves Eason of Towles Road, Wilmington, NC, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022. She was born in Greenville, SC, to Arlor Hamilton Reeves and Mary Wilson Reeves. She was raised in Murrells Inlet, SC, by Ernest and Claudie England.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 47 years, Kenneth Dunn Eason; and her brothers, Robert Wilson and Steve Reeves.

Judy dedicated her life to her husband and family as well as helping others. She spent more than 40 years working as a surgical technologist in various hospitals in North Carolina, South Carolina and Alabama. She and her husband retired and moved back to Wilmington, but retirement just didn’t suit her, so she went back to work teaching surgical technology at Miller-Motte College for 10 years. She was well respected by her students and colleagues.

Judy was beloved by her son, grandsons and great grandson. Her grandsons enjoyed their talks, phone calls, ice cream dates, Salt Works dates, and long golf cart rides around the neighborhood with “Mimi.”

Judy was also loved by her friends and neighbors who enjoyed seeing her on her daily five-mile walks on Towles Road. “Mrs. Judy” was quick to say hello, share her mileage count for the day, and stop to chat about a recipe or check on neighbors. Those who were exceptionally lucky would occasionally receive one of her famous apple cakes. There was nothing better than a warm slice of that cake with a cup of coffee moments after she dropped it by—to celebrate a birthday or just because she was kind-hearted and thinking of you.

Judy looked forward to her 5:00 p.m. red wine, cheese and crackers. She loved tending to her beautiful flowers—especially her knock-out roses, Gerbera daisies and hibiscuses—and kept her yard filled with bright colors. She welcomed the neighborhood kids to pick flowers or pears from her pear tree and stop in for juice.

She is survived by her son Kenneth Brian Eason of Thomasville, NC; grandsons Brandon Lee Eason (Marlene) of Sumter, SC, and Ryan Austin Eason of Thomasville, NC; great grandson Kenneth Dean Eason of Sumter, SC; and numerous family members. She leaves behind countless friends and neighbors who were like family, including Brenda Towles, her lifelong friend of more than 60 years. Mrs. Judy will be dearly missed by her friends and neighbors who will especially miss her daily presence walking up and down Towles Road.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 2, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life with Pastor William Batten at 2:00 p.m. at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park at 1155 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC.
